Preparations
Antigua Yacht Club Marina, Falmouth Harbor and Nelson's dockyard are rapidly filling up with super yachts. The Charter Yacht Show's starting on Sunday and crew on each of the yachts are busy washing, polishing and preparing their vessels for brokers and clients who'll soon be here to carefully judge every little detail before booking the yachts for charters for this upcoming season. I'm having a nice view from "my office", upstairs at the Yacht Club and admiring one huge yacht after another that are entering the harbor area. Lots of people here now by the way, crazy dynamic atmosphere compared to only a week ago. And these yacht people/crew sure know how to party, dangerous it is.

Baby dogs and children
Look at this beautiful pitbull/rottweiler baby girl, it almost breaks my heart to lift her from my lap and leave her back to the owner. If only we could have one of these onboard our boat, a pity they don't stay this petite for the rest of their lives. But kids and dogs will have to wait a few more years till the day we are ready to turn our focus from adventure and our own personal development, not sure when/if we will ever be ready. Have been talking a lot about kids lately with several different people as it seems like it's kind of expected of a woman close to thirty to start planning for family and kids. It is not at all a must in my world. I don't necessarily need own children to complete myself and I/we are still not certain if it is the right way to go for myself/us. To have children at all that is. I'm scared to love them too much, to get totally overprotective and loose myself completely in the process. One day I love the idea, I can picture our own little family and I know what an amazing father Alex would be, the next day I'm sure that I will never have any children at all because of the fact that it would bring just too many more headaches into life and I really want to keep things simple, and some days we're more into adoption and could imagine ourselves taking care of a few of the ones less fortunate. There's so many kids out there in the world without parents, security and love so why putting more children onto this planet. But as I told you, I'm still not sure what is the best way to go and luckily I got a few more years to think this all through.

Dinghy
Happy owners of a new 9 feet rigid dinhgy. Really wanted the one from AB but unfortunately our favorite chandlery Budget Marine hadn't got their dinghy delivery for the season as yet and we really really needed a new one asap. What an easy way to upgrade the comfort in life, to get a larger and more stable tender. Only the outboard missing now, will probably get the Yamaha 8hp this week and that should be much better than our current Suzuki 2,5hp.. still debating whether to go for the 15hp or not but it is also much heavier to haul up and down from/to the boat, any thoughts?

The perfect anniversary meal
I started writing on this post a while ago as I wanted to share the amazing culinary experience we enjoyed in Nevis for our anniversary. Opening this post and continuing to write this article sent me instantly back to the beautiful settings of the 300 year old sugar mill where we were seated in a private dining room, only us two, surrounded by candle light and a magical atmosphere between the cut stonewalls.
Let me start to introduce the entrance: a light asparagus panna cotta with a creamy parmesan espuma and tomato confit.
As asparagus probably is what Alex hates the most, he asked for the chef to make whatever else he could come up with. As this restaurant only serves a chef's tasting menu and no a la carte, we were excited to see what else could be created outside of the fixed menu. Alex got a beautiful melon and dried/smoked prosciutto ham concoction with a balsamic vinaigrette. I would have preferred this one too I must say. It was perfect.
A silky pumpkin and coconut veloute with a spoon of marinated pineapple and tandoori oil.The butter poached lobster medallions with a green pea pesto and almonds was unbelievable.
A little passionfruit sorbet to clean the palate before the main plate.
We eat duck quite often, almost always when eating in a French restaurant there is either one of us who orders magrait de canard, but this duck breast was prepared in a, for us, new and exciting way. I have hard to explain the delightfulness of this maple leaf farm duck breast with young vegetables and fruit medley in a sweet spices juice, but it was simply out of this world. Neither the picture nor the description makes any justice to this masterpiece of a duck, it was truly a star and we kept talking about it from the minute we started devouring it until we fell asleep that night. The absolute highlight of the meal.
At this time we were quite full already but the white chocolate and strawberry verrine with crumble biscuit and vanilla cream was the perfect ending to the meal. Sweet and creamy in perfect combination without being too heavy. Must give this one a try at home and see if I can create something similar one day.
Chocolate and marmalade for the coffee.
As Alex rarely drinks wine, I always end up ordering individual glasses when we're out dining. This time I was happily surprised to see the large selection of wines not only in full bottles but also in the small size, two and a half glass is exactly what is needed for a dinner from my point of view. A glorious Chateauneuf de Pape, Mont Redon from 2005 was my round, flavorful companion throughout this meal.
The service was consistently excellent and all of the waiters who served us through the night were very attentive.

The characteristic stone walls again..
We spent a few hours in that sugar mill eating our way through the night and as we had been out bike riding for almost the whole day before the dinner, nothing was more tempting after the dessert than this homey view and the most comfortable bed we've slept in for a long time. I don't think you can imagine how good we slept after a meal and a weekend like that.
Restaurant 750 can be found at Montpelier Plantation Inn, Nevis. Contact details for reservation can be found here.
Can't leave this place
Just one more swim before we leave... jezuz, we're always late with everything we do. Was supposed to leave 6.00 am this morning to take advantage of the good winds for our passage towards Antigua but it's already after lunch. Perhaps we'll stay another night. Bikini/s like always from my favorite of them all, Babajaan. Check out their new amazing pieces here.

Duty free shopping
Busy here. More substantial blog content coming one other week when we're not in a rush. Today we'll be heading into Philipsburg, the capital of this island, to purchase some things that we need. Best shopping in the Caribbean must be here in Sint Maarten/St Martin. Duty free and all.

Dinner time
Can't deny that it feels extremely good to have occasions and places to dress up for, put make up and high heels on and to be out dining and wining and enjoying life in the dark like it was good old 2009 again. The energy and the familiar movements of this island is much needed for both of us at the moment. Interesting also to discover how many new subjects of conversation one can create in between two people, a couple who spend almost every single minute of each day together, when just changing the surroundings and the atmosphere around.

Temptations
There are just too many distractions, temptations and wonderful things and food to enjoy on this island. Not sure how I will be able to be in the best physical shape ever for NYE that I had as a goal. Punishing myself with hard core fitness routines for the following four weeks until our friends arrive. Yes, only four weeks left now.

Hello St Martin!
Finally back again in the land of sex, drugs and rock n' roll. Or the country of contrasts if you like, or the land of mesmerizing beaches or whatever you prefer to call this amazing island. Sure is that we have came to love the diversity this island offers and the fact that it always manages to make us feeling very welcome, welcome back home, each of the times that we drop the hook in the emerald green waters of this French/Dutch nation. Until we're out there again (leaving Caribbean behind) and continuing this so called world tour where the thought is to one day actually sail around the world instead of jumping back and forth between islands, we will with pleasure continue to enjoy the oh so familiar European flavor and energy that this island offers.
