A better person

What is it that brings people to sail the waters of our world more than freedom, independence and peace of mind like I was taking about yesterday? Vistas like this of course. It must do something good for your brain and your heart to wake up to a view like this instead of rain and clutter which is the case in many parts of the world. I can even go that far to claim that a view like this is what have made me a better person, just because I need less of everything else so to say. I can jump off our boat any second and enjoy the luke warm water, maybe have a turtle swimming by and all along the way get warmed by the healing sunshine. In moments like that there isn't much else you would want to wish for yourself. You feel kind of content with what there is, right there right now.

P.S: Don't forget to check in a bit later, will share with you our favorite sites of the month.

P.S 2: And do not miss to check out what the worlds greatest/largest/most famous sailing website, Sailing Anarchy, has to say about our little video today, find it here. Thank you for featuring us yet again.

invasion

Not the most common view here on Antigua.
We're far more used to see people riding around on donkeys on these islands.

Green Island

A sunny and refreshing weekend was spent in Nonsuch Bay. This is how Duende is most beautiful. Anchored in a serene spot surrounded by clear turquoise water and lush green hills. Can't wait to do more of this when we are done with our missions here in Antigua.

Good morning

Nothing like being greeted good morning by a limegreen lizard.

Having just a few more things to purchase and fill the fridge with, ice must be picked up, need to do a last check of the boat and stove away what is needed, play a bit of Matthew Herbert on the ipod and soon we're off for a lonesome sunny sail around a corner of the island. We've been around so many different people lately so it kinda feels exciting to be just the two of us again.

New destination

Friday evening approaching and we are preparing the boat for tomorrow's sail to another beautiful side of the island. Have a blissful weekend you all, ours will be spent on and in the water. Will try to mix work and pleasure in the most comfortable way possible.

Curtain Bluff

The other day we were invited by Managing Director and partner Rob Sherman at Curtain Bluff to have a look at his legendary Antiguan resort. I think most people who've ever searched for a luxury resort in the Caribbean have came across or heard about Curtain Bluff in one way or another. The property was built in 1962 and been a favored island getaway ever since. The resort has an almost mythical reputation around the world so I was thrilled to finally get to visit and it goes without saying that I wasn't disappointed with what we were shown. The resort has a dream location on a bluff in between two beaches. One with wild Atlantic waves and the other one facing the calmer Caribbean sea. The gorgeous classic colonial style buildings are surrounded by a lush green palm garden, a garden with over 70 different types of palm trees from all across the world as Rob told us with excitement. Some of which he himself has planted and seen grow over the years.

Most of the staff at Curtain Bluff have worked with the resort for most of their lives and it's easy to see the reason for it. There is a special vibe in the air and with whomever we met during the day, it felt like they were a part of the place, not just working there, and the smiles and calming ambiance made us instantly feel welcome. We haven't had the chance to stay at the resort overnight as yet nor have we tried out the evening restaurants, but if you'd trust the massive amount of reviews that are to be found online, this place is a first choice vacation spot for the ones that are looking for elegant tranquility and five star service in a gorgeous Caribbean location. Like many time before, Curtain Bluff were recently voted one of the best hotels in the Caribbean by Travel+Leisure magazine and they're consistently ranked among the best hotels worldwide by other publications as well as by guests and members of Tripadvisor. For more info, check out the hotels website here. Personally I'm hoping we'll have the time to revisit the hotel for a wine tasting evening in their impressive wine cellar one of these days before we leave the island.

My dress and bikini are from Babajaan and my sandals from Ancient Greek Sandals.

Lunch by the water

My girlfriends from Dubai had to leave us a day before the pool party unfortunately but when they were waiting for their flight to take off, Daniel, another friend of ours arrived just in time to meet them both. We enjoyed an extremely long rosé lunch with them all at our favorite restaurant here on Antigua, Cecilia's, ran by the beautiful, tall Helmut Newton model that I told you about last time. Located perfectly close to the airport making it a convenient place for both lunch and dinner when awaiting a flight. We're always having the best times at her house amongst her beautiful family, dogs and cats. You remember last time we had a dinner at Cecilia's? Check here for pictures from that night.

3x30

Thirty is really nothing compared to what this gracious lady turns a few days after me. Can you only imagine how much life experience and wisdom one must possess when you're three times older than what I am. I enjoy listening to the elderly reminisce about their lives with stories from past generations. It makes me feel like I haven't even started my life yet and that there are so many more spiritual, mental and physical challenges and journeys to look forward to in the future. I welcome them all with open arms. I have always lived with the mindset that I will live and enjoy my life like it was my last days on earth and I will continue to do so for also this new decade that I'm stepping into today. Not sure if that type of thinking will bring me all the way to ninety but at least I will have enjoyed an insanely intense and fulfilling ride.
