last night at Carre d'Or

We were lucky to get a perfect slip in between gorgeous super yachts and right outside our favorite place: Petro's sophisticated Le 88, a Greek lounge/restaurant which is squeezed in between the Cartier, Hermés and Cavalli boutiques on the main road of St Barts. A vodka pamplemousse never tastes better than after a 12,5 hour long sail in the sun. A few of those please and you're back on track.

caribbean taste...

.. is the name of a nice, authentic Antiguan restaurant located on a dirt road behind the yacht club. a must if you want to enjoy fresh local west indian food in Antigua.

bonito

We had time to visit a fantastic restaurant in St Barts the other night. Bonito is one of our top five dining favorites in the Caribbean. Elegant yet cozy atmosphere, great food with the best selection of ceviche to be found in the West Indies, attentive service and occasionally interesting live musicians visiting. This is the type of place one has to get dragged out from as you're too comfortable to leave. I love bars and restaurants where they've managed to create a feeling of that you're invited into someone's living room.

Lunch by the water

My girlfriends from Dubai had to leave us a day before the pool party unfortunately but when they were waiting for their flight to take off, Daniel, another friend of ours arrived just in time to meet them both. We enjoyed an extremely long rosé lunch with them all at our favorite restaurant here on Antigua, Cecilia's, ran by the beautiful, tall Helmut Newton model that I told you about last time. Located perfectly close to the airport making it a convenient place for both lunch and dinner when awaiting a flight. We're always having the best times at her house amongst her beautiful family, dogs and cats. You remember last time we had a dinner at Cecilia's? Check here for pictures from that night.

the other night

The view alone is worth the hike up that steep hill. Yea I guess we could've taken the golf cart from the resort but for some reason we always manage to make everything as complicated as possible for ourselves. Sweaty and with cramp in our legs (especially me with my high heels) we arrived to the top of the hill but the atmosphere and ambiance of this place totally managed to take our breath away and get us forget the pain, at least for a while.. Carmichaels is, in our humble opinion, one of the best places on Antigua for a romantic and/or stylish dinner where the manager Clifford Hanes, a charming man with much knowledge and discreet professionalism, runs his place in sophisticated manners. Hope we'll get a chance to go again very soon.

Carmichaels

Our final lunch at Sugar Ridge resort was enjoyed on our favorite restaurant at the property. Carmichaels is a fine dining restaurant at the top of the ridge with a spectacular view over the Caribbean sea. We had already fallen in love with the place the night before when we got to enjoy a candlelit dinner while overlooking the dark sea and the amazing sky of stars above Montserrat and Nevis islands. The food here is very delightful, the service great and they got an excellent attention to details. There's also a beautiful infinity pool where guests can relax and have a cocktail before or after lunch. Definitely a place to recommend for friends visiting Antigua as both the pool and the restaurant are open to outside clients and not only for the guests of the hotel. Will show you some evening shots of the dinner as well but let's look at that view first before I show you the nightside of it all, isn't that just gorgeous?

Last night

Last night we went to one of our favorite places in Antigua, Café Club in Falmouth Harbor. The very talented pianist and percussionist James Lascelles was guesting and together with his friend John Nobbs on the clarinet they let us enjoy divine jazz. Additionally, our very dear friend Jeff Hadeed, owner of many excellent places and properties here in Antigua, among them The Larder restaurant, had brought his chefs over serving us the best sushi to find on the island. Never thought sushi and jazz made for such splendid combination. Make sure to visit Patricia's Café Club and Jeff's The Larder next time you're in Antigua. Both of which are very delightful experiences.

Click here for another amazing jazz experience we had on this sailing journey around the world, that time in Casablanca, Morocco.

Last night at Cecilia's

Cecilia Nord is a Swedish ex-model who've worked with Helmut Newton and many other influential photographers back in the 80's. Today she runs one of Antigua's most interesting and reputable restaurants with an intriguing melange of Swedish, Italian and Mediterranean cuisine on a private beach at Dutchman's Bay, very close by the airport. It was a long time since I enjoyed such a wonderful pyttipanna med ägg och rödbetor as I did last night.. and the generous portion of confit de canard that Alex had was absolutely amazing. Great night spent with a few of our beautiful friends from Antigua.

Do not miss to check out Cecilia's Highpoint next time you're on the island if you're looking for great ambiance and delicious food in beautiful surroundings
