Just got the most beautiful package from Jade, the designer behind We Dream In Colour. Handmade jewelry with cutting edge design inspired by many cultures and worlds, much of it has a vintage feel which I adore. The line is created in socially conscious fashion and the company takes as many steps they can to minimize their environmental impact. These are the hoops that I wear in the photo btw, I love them, made of vintage African beads. Go check out the website and online shop, they ship all over the world.

last night
Was a great night last night. We were invited to our boat neighbors and friends on Cherokee. Sommer, the woman of them two, hand produces an absolutely beautiful, natural skin-care line which I will tell you a bit more about in a month or so. After a visit on their boat, we all went over to our friends Bill and Nath on Tilly Mint and next to them Ranger and the J class had organized a great barbeque on the dock which we of course enjoyed. Bill from Tilly Mint blended btw the very famous BVI drinks - painkillers - which I had never tried before. I don't know if it was the name that mislead me, but I was convinced that I wouldn't get a hangover from those particular drinks so I quickly devoured them one after another. Surprisingly, my theory was completely wrong. Welcome hangover of the year!

Morocco Travel - A brief overview of the first Moroccan holiday makers.
Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean in the west, the Mediterranean coast in the north and the endless expanses of the Sahara desert in the south lies the Kingdom of Morocco in northwest Africa. As the geographical limits of the desert, the Atlas serves, a great mountain range that runs through the country from southwest to north east almost completely. The highest elevation in the Atlas is the Djebel Toubkal, 4,200 meters high, just south of the city of Marrakech situated. The atlas also ensures the water supply of the whole country, the peaks in the winter months, usually covered by snow,. The water is then used after thawing for irrigation Crossing the country from the capital Rabat to the east, you meet on fertile landscapes, dense cork forests and impressive rock formations. In addition to the large coastal cities in Agadir , Casablanca , Rabat and Tangier are also in the inland cities were of considerable size, such as Fez and Meknes . These centers represent the modern day Morocco and combine western lifestyle with Arab tradition. In the mountainous regions of the Atlas, however, lives the original Morocco - small nomadic tribes who live on the other livestock and from trading in carpets and traditional handicrafts.
Morocco - A valley in the Atlas Mountains
South of the Atlas finally starts the Moroccan desert, which in turn forms part of the Sahara desert. She acted in the past as a bridge between Europe and Africa and was therefore covered by numerous trade routes. The outskirts of the desert are lined with large palm oasis with lush vegetation and provide a wonderful backdrop for vacationers. head of Morocco's King Mohammed VI in 1999, eldest son of King Hassan II, who died in the same year, suddenly and unexpectedly. . The new young king is very popular with his people and is committed to the democratization of the country and to strengthen the rights of women nevertheless determined the religion - Islam - still a large part of the lives of Moroccans. Ramadan is strictly observed, as a rule, made pilgrimages to Mecca and the daily prayers must not be missing for most Moroccans. A great holiday is the Feast of Sacrifice "Aid el-Kebir," which reminds us of the goodness of God who allowed Abraham to sacrifice him to a ram instead of his son. The festival is held annually in December and enchants its visitors with happy, singing and dancing people roaming the streets and houses. The culinary highlight is the hard one - no one shall suffer hunger on this day, therefore the delicious dishes interspersed with each other. For travelers, Morocco is a paradise. Whether beach holiday on the mile-long sandy beaches, or Morocco tours with ever-changing attractions. Here in Morocco, everyone finds their dream vacation. Spend your vacation in Morocco - a land of history, style, and many fascinating faces!
Holidays in Morocco
Make holiday in Morocco? I only go away - that is to say that many a. Too large, the prejudice against an Islamic holiday destination. Why is it just a very modern Islamic state, Morocco, in which religion is lived though - they are nevertheless open to Western culture.
220,000 German tourists spent a holiday in Morocco in 2012. That is 80,000 more visitors than they did seven years ago. The trend is upward and stops, and the dawn of the "Arab Spring" has not changed anything. Besides the typical Badeurlauben in the seaside resorts on the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean, especially Morocco tours are always popular.
The tourist infrastructure is very good. Hotels and Riyadh `s are available in various categories from luxury accommodation to simple accommodation option is to find everything.
Many hotels offer water sports are offered in addition to the typical and extensive spa treatments.
Spa & Thalasso therapy, or even a visit to a traditional hammam, massages and relaxing - just try it once.
Who leaves his hotel complex once may plunge into the magic of 1001 when he strolls in picturesque old towns with winding streets, where you can marvel at ancient crafts preserved. The smells of the markets in which not only spices with all other possible trades are indescribable.
Morocco does a lot for tourism. The population is informed about the "right" deal with tourists, it stops to cleanliness in the towns.
Morocco opens up the original, especially the one who chooses for his vacation a trip around Morocco. But even in the mountainous hinterland of Morocco brings some of the growing tourism modernity, and especially new sources of revenue for the Berbers who live here.
Morocco has many faces - but once they get to know your Morocco holiday.

If we would have lived on land, this would've been a perfect ride for us. Such a beauty. But let's save those type of dreams for later. We have a boat to finish preparing for our next leg and a world to continue to circumnavigate before we can begin to think about cars, bikes and houses again. But damn.... almost as sexy as our Duende. All good things we're made in the seventies.. like this one.
New chainplate
The old backstay chainplate was mounted inside of the lazarette and giving unnecessary extra load to the transom, which of course, with the years had got bended improperly inwards. Alex removed that old chainplate and built a new one in 1/2 inch (12,75 mm) stainless steel that is mounted on the outside of the transom instead of inside. The chainplate is cut from a 316L steel plate and has been bent under heat. The process of bending it, drilling the holes (countersunk) and polishing of the plate took Alex around 12 hours in total. The chainplate is now fastened with six bolts, two of them has encapsulated nuts inside of the new plywood knee which is glassed in place. The four remaining bolts goes through the knee and the transom. Will show you the inside and the glassed knee when that space is tidied up if that could be of interest. Just too bad that we need to remove the boats name from the back and move it somewhere else on the hull, but at least we've got the backstay issue out of the way and the transom has slowly been forced back into its right shape. This installation should definitely give a more even load to the transom.
This is how the boat looked from the back before the new chainplate installation. Nice from a far with the name clearly visible, but not so safe nor good for the construction cause if you looked close enough, you could clearly see that the whole transom was being pulled inwards by the old chainplate.

Cantonese beef
Some things that might have been a norm or a common, simple enjoyment in our previous land based life seems like a luxury nowadays. Like Chinese food for example. We just had the best dinner in years, just because it was like two years ago we had the pleasure to enjoy it the last time. The same goes with a hot shower, every time we stay in a resort or a hotel on our travels, we get stuck in the hot shower for hours, because we don't have that luxury in our boat at the moment. Feels good to not being used to it all anymore, makes us appreciate small things in a new type of way.
Another type of yacht
Some of the mega yachts we had as neighbors in St Barts over New Year. Eclipse first, worlds largest privately owned yacht. And Seanna at the bottom. A tad bit smaller but still enough to have a crew of around twenty. If some of you would ever be interested in chartering one, let's say the smallest of them two, the price is around €450.000 a week. I doubt it's possible to charter Eclipse but I guess the price would be at least the double. Anyone interested? Good price yo! Remember breakfast, dinner and drinks are included.
More coming
Glad you seem to like the video! Yesterday we had around 10.000 views on it (in one day!) from almost every country in the world. We're slowly reaching for 20k and we have only had it open for the public for five days thus far. Thanks to Sailing Anarchy, All at Sea, Sailing World, ItBoat, Segel Reporter, Nalden and all of the private blogs and tumblr sites that have spread this first video around. So glad we got into this, looking forward to see what you think about the second episode which will be online shortly. Have a look here or below if you still haven't seen our first episode.

Replacement
One other very important safety procedure to perform when buying a boat is to check the condition of the gas hose. Old, leaking hose can result in terrible accidents and there are many boats that have caught in fire and too many people got killed in boats that have exploded because of leaking propane or butane gas and that's not our preferred way to die, or get injured for that matter. We found tiny cracks in the existing rubber hose and decided not to risk it but instead change the whole length of hose to one made of copper. Can tell you it was a mission to bend that stiff copper through all those holes, walls and nooks around the boat to get it in place from the deck to the stove but it feels very relieving to have one more worry gone.

Favorites of today
Time again for monthly favorites online. This time only two as I haven't had much time to look around on the Internet lately because of work. Besides of Sailing Anarchy and Nalden, these are the favorites of this month (and for many more months as well):
We Transfer - Seriously the tightest file sharing option online. Forget Dropbox, YouSend it and whatever else they're called, this is the real shit. Even with a super slow Caribbean wifi connection I managed to pass over four high res images (2-5 MB each) to Europe in less than five minutes the other day. Fucking genius of a software. And even better: The recipients do not need to install any software nor do they need any password or login to download the files you've sent them. And what else, almost forgot: It's free, no joke! Make sure to claim your own channel right now before someone else does it. Ours is worldtourstories.wetransfer.com Your own channel has a cost of course but if you don't need it, you can still send whatever files you want for $ 0.
Life at 33 degrees - Suzy is the chef aboard a beautiful classic racing yacht called Mariquita. In her blog she shares some of the food, bread and drinks that she prepare for her crew. Her British heritage enriches this blog with traditional British recipes mixed with the influences she come across on their sailing and races around the most beautiful places in the world. This is one of my favorite food blogs and I love the fact that the writer lives (part time) aboard a classic yacht. Go follow Suzy's food stories here.

A better person
What is it that brings people to sail the waters of our world more than freedom, independence and peace of mind like I was taking about yesterday? Vistas like this of course. It must do something good for your brain and your heart to wake up to a view like this instead of rain and clutter which is the case in many parts of the world. I can even go that far to claim that a view like this is what have made me a better person, just because I need less of everything else so to say. I can jump off our boat any second and enjoy the luke warm water, maybe have a turtle swimming by and all along the way get warmed by the healing sunshine. In moments like that there isn't much else you would want to wish for yourself. You feel kind of content with what there is, right there right now.
P.S: Don't forget to check in a bit later, will share with you our favorite sites of the month.
P.S 2: And do not miss to check out what the worlds greatest/largest/most famous sailing website, Sailing Anarchy, has to say about our little video today, find it here. Thank you for featuring us yet again.

Bathroom contemplations
Finally got some order in our bathroom as well, or head as they call it in boat language wherever that name comes from. Loving that everything is so light and bright in this new boat btw, compared to the dark mahogany of our previous one. That was kind of beautiful too, but this is different, very refreshing. You'll get a sneak peak live from inside of this boat in our next short film which will go live in a few weeks. And no, not from the bedroom, don't worry. Enough sexiness in this blog for now as a few of you whine about this blog being too sexy. I'll put my burqa on for now so y'all stop complaining.
It's all about freedom
When people ask us what is the main purpose, the real drive behind sailing the world and living a life like this, the answer that always comes to mind is, because we want to feel free. However egoistic or selfish that might sound, it's all very simple, we just want that: to feel free, have a peace of mind. We have no huge saving-the-world-mission going on here nor are we out on this journey just because "it's a fun thing to have done", but what is driving us are all those unnecessary things one might have to face in a normal life. We don't want no stress, we want no bigger problems than the ones we manage to create for ourselves, we don't want anyone interfering with our time on earth, no one telling us what to do and what not to. We want to be able to do the things we love, design the life the way we feel like. We want to share beautiful moments only with people we love being around and the ones that we feel happy and comfortable with. We want to see the world with our own eyes, maybe finding a place to settle for a few years or continue to search for that perfect place for years to come if that suits us better for that time being. This journey we're out on is the best way we've found to achieve all of that. This is the only way we have figured out that gives us real peace of mind and we are willing to work hard each of these days in various locations around the world to maintain this liberating lifestyle that we have chosen as our best bet. Don't get me wrong now, we have a lot of things to do here, a lot of work and projects to take care of which sometimes means 14 hours of non-stop work and a lot of sweat and pain, but we're doing it all because we have chosen it as parts of our life, and obviously because money doesn't grow on palm trees..
Life is so incredibly beautiful if we manage it well so we simply just don't want to waste our time if you know what I mean. To be egoistic and to take control of your own life is for us the best way to live as that gives not only happiness to oneself, but also to the people that you choose to be around. I am more humble and thoughtful to my family and people that I care about today than what I have ever been before, while at the same time being more distant to what consume too much of my energy in a negative way, and it all comes down to the same philosophy: Life was made to be lived in peaceful and harmonic manners. When the mind and soul is in peace because you do only the things you enjoy doing, the things that moves you forward and when you surround yourself only with the energy you feel balanced with - that is for me to have found freedom. And that is in the end of the day, the reason why we have chosen to live the way we do. Some weeks we're broke and dirty as a result of expensive and time consuming boat renovations and not much work for us as freelancers', other weeks we're tidied up with pockets full of cash but all the time we're on our way towards our own dreams. Living the life we have chosen for ourselves. Since we began this journey and discovered the truth of it, both the good the bad and the ugly sides, neither of us can imagine living life differently. Everyday thankful that we made this dream reality.

Waking up with the rooster
Good morning. Something's wrong with me. I wake up earlier and earlier each morning. 6:45 is alright but 5 am is not an acceptable time to get up. Is this what happens when you turn thirty? What am I supposed to do alone in the darkness and what the hell are the cocks doing up this early? (ok you tell me, what's the right thing to call them, rooster sounds perfectly non-provocative to me but Google translate insist on them both. Or chanticleer, what the fuck is that?)

Introduction
For you who follow our friend Nalden's, stylish design blog, you might have seen this already but here's for the rest of you: the first short episode of our World Tour Stories « the short film series ».
Along the way of our travels these past 1,5 years, so many of you dear readers have emailed us, commented and encouraged us to make more videos to give another dimension to this blog, but for some reason we've shied away from making something real of it until now. Only a few weeks ago we figured it's about time to begin to show you how our world looks like in motion picture. I hope you will enjoy this first one of a series of many short films that will follow. The premiere video is just a blurry black and white introduction, the next longer episode with a bit more substance and a colorful look into some of the different cultures we've met on our travels, will go live in approximately a month from now. Or sooner if you really enjoy this one.. Thanks for watching and for joining our journey. Feel free to share the video with your friends or anyone who might be interested in our story. And please let us know how you like this first episode, thanks!
