They began the week with the destruction of Houston’s historic Prudential Building and now end with a time-lapse documenting a 30-story, five-star Chinese hotel constructed in only 15 days.
The Chinese construction company, Broad Group, is gaining international attention for their efficient construction methods made possible by through prefab construction techniques, as ninety-three percent of the high-rise was quickly pieced together with pre-made components.
The 17,000 square meter hotel known as T30 is located in the Lin Gang Industrial Zone in Xiangyin County. It started construction on December 2, 2011 and was completed in 360 hours. The hotel is comprised of over 350 rooms, a restaurant, bar, gym, swimming pool on the top floor, underground parking and a helicopter pad. All rooms have quadruple-paned windows, external solar shading, LED lighting, water efficient toilets and an innovative air filtration system that promises pure air. The total cost of the hotel was 17 million.
Using a new structural system design and developed by Broad Sustainable Building (BSB), a simulation model of the building was said to have withstood a series of earthquake resistance tests ranging from 7.0 to 9.0 magnitude – conducted by the China Academy of Building Research last May.
